Ray Rice
When it come to the issue regarding Ray Rice, I am stuck in the middle. Do I believe he should have been suspended indefinitely by the NFL? I would say no to this question. First off I must say, I do not condone domestic violence against anyone, and not justifies a men doing what Rice did to his wife. I believe suspended the Rice was the wrong step for the NFL, and I have a couple reasons why I say that. First, what happened between the Rice's was obviously a personal and family issue. I understand the Rice is a role model and in the public eye, but his home situation should not effect his workplace. I believe the main reason he was suspended because the media got a hold of the video and splashed all over the internet. Secondly, instead of suspended him indefinitely. I feel the NFL should have taken this opportunity to connect with the community. After the apologize, The NFL should have reached out and help Rice get help. They should have made him get a little help and stick by his while doing so. Now, I do not feel the same way about all the other domestic violence cases popping up in the NFL. I say this about Rice because I personally feel he is not a bad person and I do not think he's a women beater. Let's keep in mind she did hit him first, BUT it still doesn't justify his action. I know, I know. I feel he needs a little help, and they both need marriage assistance.
Boss Evaluation Experience
One of my favorite evaluation was when I worked for Ralph Lauren. My general manager, Josh Olcott, was an amazing and motivating boss. During my evaluations with him, he always made sure I knew what he expect of me. He provided feedback, praise, and constructive criticism of my performance at the workplace During these evaluation, he also listened. He listened to the concerns, question, or emotional outburst I had regarding the work place. With each concern, question or outburst, he was able to provide feedback to whatever I was having issues with. If he did not have a response, he would out it on hold until he had a response for me. He also always made it very clear that his door was always open, and he was always there if we (employees) needed someone to talk to. He cared not only about the company and customers, but he really card for employees as individuals.

Perform job analysis, write job descriptions, and job specifications.
Nasty Gal is a privately-held global eCommerce style
destination catering to an international cult of obsessed, super stylish
girls. They specialize in one-of-a-kind true vintage pieces as well as
new clothing, shoes, and accessories from independent designers around
the world. They agree an entrepreneurial-minded and driven team, and a leader
in the online fashion
space. Nasty Gal is
looking for Stylists for their first retail stores. This is a pivotal role
in the store and will involve providing optimum level customer service
and styling and maintaining a friendly and welcoming environment for our
clients. In this role
I would have to maximize personal
sales at all opportunities and help create a friendly and
welcoming work environment. I would also have to fully style and outfit
each client through suggestive selling and fitting room
styling.
Marijuana in the Workplace
When it comes to marijuana in the workplace, I feel
it should only be allowed for medical reasons only. One may say “why does my
job need to worry about what I am doing on my days off?” I feel a company
should worry about each and every employee on and off the clock. When working
for a company, you are the face of that company. You become part of that
company’s branding. Yes, your job should be concerned with the bad decisions
you decide to make off the clock. You are representing your company, and you
can hurt their reputation depending on what you do. Like alcohol, marijuana and
other substances, affect everyone different. David can smoke marijuana and just
chill for the entire night. Yet Lily can smoke marijuana, and became very
paranoid and made bad decisions that night. "Paranoia
is likely to occur when we are worried, think negatively about ourselves, and
experience unsettling changes in our perceptions," says Prof.
Freeman. Would you want to be Lily? “Paranoia is one of
the most unpleasant side effects of marijuana.”
With any substance, you are not in your normally state of mind and you may not
even be aware of your actions. I feel when it comes to marijuana in the
workplace, excluding medical issues; people should respect their company and
want to present themselves in the best manner always. Not saying you cannot
have fun, we all love to have fun. Doing marijuana is definitely a personal
choice, like anything else. Is it worth losing your job over?

Physical Attractiveness at work
When running a business, you want people that will
attract customer to you business, right? I feel each field of work has that “ideal
look” they want most or all of their employees to look like. Each person has controllable
and uncontrollable factors when talking about their physical attractiveness.
Personal hygiene should not be questioned at all when looking for employees to
work under you, right? Wrong! Some medical conditions can cause a person to
have bad personal hygiene, and that’s something one cannot completely control. For
example, a person with Trimethylaminuria cannot control their body not being
able to break down a chemical compound called trimethylamine. “Trimethylamine is what
gives fish its fishy smell, and when it builds up in the body it's released in
the breath, urine and sweat, giving a person with trimethylaminuria a similarly fishy smell”, according
to the Genetics Home Reference at the National Institutes of Health. I can
relate to having something wrong with my body that I cannot control. I had
scars all over my arms and legs due to really bad eczema for about 3 years. I
was uncomfortable for a long time wearing shorts and short sleeves. I was
always paranoid. I hated appearance. Although I have having all these issues
with myself, my boss and everyone else did not judge me. I’d have customers and
co-worker ask what happened and after I told them, it was nothing. For the most
part, my physical appearance was accepted before people even asked me about it,
and that was mainly because of my personality. That taught me to never judge
people due to their physical attractiveness. Next, we have tattoos. Tattoos are
a decision that you have full control over. I have no problem with tattoos and
many people in my generations don’t seem to mind either. Yet, we do have other
that may question a person in a certain field that’s covered with tattoos.
Would you trust a surgeon with a full sleeve of tattoos? Personally, I
would. He earned his degree just any
other doctor, and he has his degree for a reason. If I felt safe with him before
knowing he had the tattoo, because of his work and his character, I would not
allow his physical appearance alter my thought of him.

Discrimination or Unfairness at the Work Place
(a) I
believe the National Employment Lawyers Associations (NELA) sponsors the www.workplacefairness.org site
because the “Federal and state laws prohibit
employment discrimination on the grounds of race, religion, sex, national
origin, age, and disability, but these laws provide no protection from other
forms of unfairness in the workplace.” With that being said,
I feel the NELA has to be the ones to protect the people that fall under those
other forms of unfairness in the workplace. For example, people with criminal
backgrounds.
(b)
This website provides numerous resources
for people to look over. A few of these resources are Employee Rights Groups,
Legal Services, Government Agencies, Military Leave, Job Type and more.
(c)
One worked related issue that would push
someone to seek out information on this site would be harassment at the work
place. If an employee comes in very day and there’s some always using foul language
or slurs, that employee can find the right information by visiting this site.
Another work related issue would be if an employee felt they were not being
paid correctly by their employer. Or if that employee is forced to work
overtime, but not receiving any extra pay. They are able to visit this sit e
and get the facts they need to ensure they are being treated right at work. Hospitality
managers can address these issues by having consistent meeting with their
teams, and hearing out all issues that are going on within the company. The
manager should be able to solve such issues so the employees do not have to go
that extra step and involve a third party.
