Marijuana in the Workplace

When it comes to marijuana in the workplace, I feel it should only be allowed for medical reasons only. One may say “why does my job need to worry about what I am doing on my days off?” I feel a company should worry about each and every employee on and off the clock. When working for a company, you are the face of that company. You become part of that company’s branding. Yes, your job should be concerned with the bad decisions you decide to make off the clock. You are representing your company, and you can hurt their reputation depending on what you do. Like alcohol, marijuana and other substances, affect everyone different. David can smoke marijuana and just chill for the entire night. Yet Lily can smoke marijuana, and became very paranoid and made bad decisions that night. "Paranoia is likely to occur when we are worried, think negatively about ourselves, and experience unsettling changes in our perceptions," says Prof. Freeman. Would you want to be Lily? “Paranoia is one of the most unpleasant side effects of marijuana.” With any substance, you are not in your normally state of mind and you may not even be aware of your actions. I feel when it comes to marijuana in the workplace, excluding medical issues; people should respect their company and want to present themselves in the best manner always. Not saying you cannot have fun, we all love to have fun. Doing marijuana is definitely a personal choice, like anything else. Is it worth losing your job over?
